Eugenides Foundation continues its mission: five new donations for education and society
Seventy years after its establishment, the Eugenides Foundation continues to faithfully uphold the vision of the national benefactor Eugenios Eugenides by promoting education, science, applied knowledge, skills development, and technical and vocational education in Greece. With a steadfast commitment to advancing knowledge, innovation, and equal access to education, the Foundation has consistently implemented significant donations of educational, scientific, and technological equipment to schools and educational institutions across the country.
As part of the Foundation’s 70th anniversary celebrations, an extensive donation programme has been implemented throughout 2025–2026. In recent months alone, five major donations have been completed, strengthening technical and vocational education, the natural sciences, maritime training, special education, and the digital transformation of schools, reaffirming the Foundation’s longstanding social mission.
The first of these initiatives supported the 1st Vocational High School (EPAL) of Didymoteicho “Eugenios Eugenides” through the donation of mechanical and electrical equipment to upgrade its laboratories. The contribution included modern tools, electrical equipment, and computers, substantially enhancing students’ opportunities for hands-on training and improving the quality of their technical and vocational education. Shortly before this donation, the school had also been strengthened through the donation of an engine room simulator, the establishment of the “Mariathi Simou Simulator Room,” and the upgrading of the laboratories of the Maritime Professions, Electrical Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering departments. This initiative created a modern, high-standard learning environment, enabling students to train using technologies and procedures that reflect the demands of today’s maritime industry.
At the same time, the Model Vocational High School (EPAL) of Xanthi received educational and laboratory equipment to upgrade its Natural Sciences laboratory. The donation included scientific instruments, microscopes, laboratory materials, and interactive equipment, creating improved conditions for experiential learning, experimentation, and students’ engagement with the natural sciences.
With the aim of continuously supporting maritime education in regional Greece, the Foundation also made a donation to the 1st Day Vocational High School (EPAL) of Lixouri, Kefalonia, for its Maritime Professions Department. The donation included navigational instruments, engine room equipment, nautical charts, and modern teaching technologies, creating a learning environment aligned with the requirements of the contemporary maritime industry.
Another particularly important donation was made to the Special Vocational Education and Training School (EEEEK) of Alexandroupoli, focusing on upgrading its gymnasium and physical education activities for students with disabilities. Through the provision of modern sports and therapeutic equipment, the Foundation made a meaningful contribution to improving students’ daily lives by supporting physical activity, rehabilitation, and social inclusion.
The fifth donation was made to the 12th Primary School of Palaio Faliro, which was equipped with modern digital and educational resources, including desktop computers, laptops, projectors, and astronomical observation equipment. This initiative supports the school’s digital transformation while enriching students’ educational experience by offering greater opportunities for exploration, creativity, and engagement with science.
These five new donations in 2026 build upon a series of important initiatives implemented by the Eugenides Foundation throughout 2025, further demonstrating its consistent investment in improving educational infrastructure, promoting scientific knowledge, and strengthening social cohesion.
The Foundation also supported the Didymoteicho Folklore Museum and the Karatheodori Family Heritage, contributing to initiatives that highlight the region’s historical, scientific, and cultural legacy. In addition, the Primary School of Rizia in Evros received modern technological equipment that enhances everyday teaching and learning while expanding students’ opportunities to integrate new technologies into the classroom.
The 2nd Evening Vocational High School (EPAL) of Orestiada received equipment supporting the energy upgrade of its facilities, while the American Farm School was provided with technological equipment that enhances its educational capabilities and supports the implementation of modern teaching methods.
These initiatives reflect the Eugenides Foundation’s enduring commitment to responding to the diverse needs of the educational community by investing in areas of significant social and developmental value.
